Course Description
  Troubleshooting is both an art and a science. An instinct and a technique. In RH142 Red Hat Linux Troubleshooting Techniques and Tools, you will learn techniques for troubleshooting a Linux system and how to use the troubleshooting tools available on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This course is a four-day, heavily lab-oriented class designed to help you learn or improve troubleshooting skills. You'll gain troubleshooting experience by debugging live systems. These labs offer a range of problems from RHCT level and up to allow you to extend your knowledge and techniques.
Audience
  Linux system administrators tasked with troubleshooting system, network, and security issues.
 
Prerequisites
  RHCT or equivalent system administration knowledge
  Knowledge of installation, service management, basic system monitoring, and file system management
 
  Basic understanding of troubleshooting, including managing log files
  Understanding the use of hardware probing tools such as ethtool and lspci is helpful but not required.
 
Course Content
  Introduction to troubleshooting techniques
  Troubleshooting boot issues: working with advanced GRUB features, rescue and GRUB CDs, advanced ext2/ext3 filesystem repair, rescuing RAID and LVM volumes
  Troubleshooting hardware: listing, testing and analyzing devices
  Troubleshooting applications: diagnosing performance problems and investigating application/OS interactions
 
  Troubleshooting the network: configuration, testing and diagnosing problems with basic and advanced configurations
 
  Security: working effectively with (and not against) security tools, including SELinux, SSL, and authentication
 
  Making the most of Red Hat support resources
